Description: Our Client, a provider of engineering, programmatic, and technical support services to the customers focused on national security, is hiring a Web Application Developer in Aberdeen, MD.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and extend a set of custom web-based applications written in PHP and using SQL to interact with data in a MySQL database. The PHP applications are written using the CakePHP framework so experience with this is preferred, but previous use of other similarly structured programming frameworks is acceptable. The existing applications include capabilities for: Inserting, modifying and deleting data into the database with associated error checking;
• Load externally generated Excel data files into the MySQL database;
• Provide process for a variety of needs which in most cases include the uploading of user files and automated generation of PDF documents email notifications providing for review and approvals of a variety of work flows throughout the organization;
• Generate a variety of reports for on-screen display and also for on demand Excel file generation;
• Generate onscreen graphs;
• Enhance and extend these existing capabilities.

Requirements:

• Experience with database centric business web applications;
• Experience in development of database centric web applications (5+ years); OR general web application development (10+ years with 2 years of experience with database centric web applications);
• Experience with SQL and familiarity with the MySQL database software;
• Experience with PHP required, CakePHP preferred;
• Experience with team programming and structured programming experience (preferred);
• Ability to interact with stakeholders to identify and decompose system requirements;
• U.S. Citizenship is required;
• Bachelor’s degree required.
