“Dear Cass,
I want to express my appreciation for your help finding a web developer.
While I am certain that you understand that we need to offer the same opportunity to all staffing agencies, I am very pleased to know that you have managed to place two of the three candidates my division needed during the last 12 months (a Web Developer and a Hyperion Administrator).
I look forward to continuing to work with your firm and build a committed, capable, skillful and knowledgeable team for the benefit of the City of Lakeland.”
“I have worked with Vitaver for over 10 years, at the City of Miami as the Assistant Director for the City's IT Infrastructure (8+ yrs) and now as the Executive Director of MDBC (1+ yrs). We don’t have a ‘bench’ with people we need to place in order to recover our investment on them. This practice, that supposedly helps the Clients by having people on stand-by, in reality, forces the staffing agency to place the people they brought to the Country or otherwise have on staff and not working, into their Clients. This often results, in less than ideal matches with the real needs of the Client.
We put the interests of the Client first. Our only commitment is to the Client, we don’t need to place anyone ‘pre-selected’. We look for the right professional who is available now to work on the specific project of the Client. We don’t try to force a round peg on a square hole, we don’t dress up resumes, our consultants do not have ‘multiple personalities’ to fit the Client of the day.
Our work results on very good matches between the Client’s needs and the candidates we submit.
We take the time to discuss with you your specific needs: all aspects of the skills, experience, personality, energy level, leadership, smarts and communication skills required to make an ideal match that will result in a long-term engagement for the benefit of all parties involved.
Career path, Company’s culture and goals are fully explained to each Candidate, so we make sure we only introduce you with viable candidates to both sides. Further, our Candidates are familiar with most of the benefits you offer, salary range, other forms of compensation, your mission and vision, etc. BEFORE you spend your time reviewing his/her credentials.
Most of all, we respect your time. We will not send you to resume ‘just in case’ or let you do most or a large part of the screening process. We fully vet our candidates ahead of time, so we save your time.
After all, you hired Vitaver to do a job and save you time. We are keenly aware of it at all times!
Send us your requirement at
[email protected]It is a fact that finding capable consultants is a difficult task. Headhunters search for them using traditional and creative ways. One is to offer incentives (called ‘referral fees’) to everyone in their organizations who finds someone they can place with another client. This is called poaching.
Your Company became ‘poaching ground’ when you hired a new consultant and other team members in your office start to find ‘better jobs’ elsewhere, including your competition. What the new agency did in fact, is infiltrated your group and source from within, finding new jobs for your other consultants to earn placement fees. Next step? Your new Consultant’s Agency offers you to fill your newly empty desks (after hiring your people) with more of their own people. Double whammy!
Vitaver never offers referral fees to its consultants or placements, and never sources from our Clients.
This happens especially with large consulting and staffing firms with a global reach but is not limited to them. A young, ambitious and energetic consultant joins your firm, learns your business and soon after (just about the time when it may become productive to you), ‘has to leave’. Their Agency is prompt to suggest a replacement. This happens over and over.
This is called ‘on the job training and you are the unwilling teacher, and your company is a school. What the Agency is doing is building up the resumes of their consultants, so they can churn them to their next assignment at a higher rate.
Vitaver Staffing never offers a new assignment or job to anyone we place. Our commitment is with you, our customer.
It just happens that many agencies keep professionals ‘on the bench’. These are people they often brought at a big expense from far away countries and they need to place. Every day waiting for the next assignment costs the Agency to house, etc. the waiting consultant. These agencies have an urgency to place those people first of all, as they often can’t afford to keep them ‘on the bench’ for weeks or months.
For the most part, valuable and highly skilled consultants and employees (the ones you want to hire) are not sitting on benches… they are busy completing a previous project. Good professionals do not stand idle at any sofa, chair or bench.
In their efforts to quickly place people in a holding pattern, some agencies will ‘customize’ resumes, to fit the job description. In fact, you can occasionally find ‘resume factories’, with people (often working offshore) modifying almost every aspect of a legitimate resume, to fit your opening. Over the last few years we encountered the same person, sometimes with the name altered by switching middle or last names with first names, etc., being submitted to completely dissimilar positions WITH THE SAME CLIENT.
Vitaver starts every search from scratch, exclusively from the Job Description or SOW. We do not keep a list of ‘preferred’ consultants or people on the bench. Our obligation is to the Client, whose need we have to meet. Vitaver will NEVER customize or even edit a resume for qualifications or even typographical or grammatical errors: it is imperative that our clients see exactly the true measure of the candidates, including their writing ability and thoroughness as demonstrated on their own resume.
The industry average gap between what you pay (Bill Rate) and what your consultant is paid (Pay Rate) is 60%. This means that when you pay $100 per hour, on average your consultants get only $40. Where is the other $60 per hour? Look no further than all the layers of executives, advertising, golf tournaments, ‘leather and marble’ in their offices, etc. etc. All that is paid by somebody… you! Although you get nothing for it, you are still being charged for all those inefficiencies by way of padding the pay rate and arriving at an inflated bill rate (which you pay).
Vitaver’s average markup is only 25%, to cover licenses, insurances, liabilities and a reasonable profit. Most of your money goes to the person you really care about: the Consultant that works day-in and day-out at your offices, delivering the systems you need. And they are so much happier!
Thanks to 19 years of continuously improving our recruiters’ skills and their tools; by keeping a nimble and highly adaptive organization, our recruiters will find, screen and provide you with skilled professionals at low cost and fast turnaround. Include [email protected] in your requirements’ distribution list and benefit from our dedication to your success.
You sent your requirements to one or several staffing agencies that gave you a very nice presentation. They appear very professional and they work at rock-bottom prices.
They do, in fact, send you some very nice candidates, and you hire a few.
A few weeks go by, and you receive a Request for Information, or even more interesting, an on-site visit from the EEOC, curious about your non-discriminatory hiring practices.
Of course, your HR Department is highly professional, so why this enquiry, you ask?
Well… maybe your Staffing Agency is not aware or fully compliant with the rules prohibiting employment discrimination on the basis of race, colour, sex, national origin, religion, retaliation, age and disability. Perhaps they are aware, but they just don’t document all their candidates, interviews, submittals, etc. with an EEOC probe in mind.
Would this omission or error make you responsible? Surely does! Don’t take our word for it, ask Legal. The consequences of such oversight are not to be measured only in dollars…
Every Professional Recruiter at Vitaver is fully familiar and compliant with EEOC rules, keeps complete and accurate records of all people denied a job or hired, so you don’t have to worry. This peace of mind, this protection comes standard when working with us.
On Seduction and the Art of Keeping Prima Donnas out of your offices
By definition, a Prima Donna is “a vain or undisciplined person who finds it difficult to work under direction or as part of a team” (Merriam-Webster).
To identify and screen out such candidate is an essential part of the job of any recruiter.
With All-too-often, blinded by the long list of credentials and references (often part of a ‘package’ or a ‘promotion out-to-a-better company that will ‘recognize her full potential) (and the placement bonus), a recruiter will ‘push’ a prima donna to an unsuspecting Client.
A recruiter needs to deal with a Candidate for just a few hours… and the Client is ‘stuck’ with the new employee or contractor for months, sometimes longer.
In our experience, they demand a lot of attention, they are high maintenance, and they never last…
Vitaver will never submit a prima donna to you, no matter how seductive the resume or the personality. We would never recommend you hire a person we would not enjoy working with, ourselves.

Today we continue exploring the findings of the OWLLabs research about the differences in meetings for remote and off-site workers.

Meetings can be a challenging but critical opportunity for collaboration on remote and hybrid teams, so we were curious to investigate how many meetings do workers usually have per week and whether those numbers would differ for remote and on-site workers.
Hiring the wrong person can cost companies dearly. It costs companies major dollars. It can affect your career advancement.
Conducting a successful interview requires a skilled interviewer to adequately prepare for the meeting and to recognize and respond to the specific situation.
Situational interviewing is not a replacement for the traditional or behavior interview methods, but should be an addition which enhances the interview and makes it more effective.
The interviewer must be well prepared and organized in order to properly conduct an interview. Preparing an interview checklist can help the interviewer to cover all the questions, complete the interview in time and assist in the evaluation of the candidate once the interview is completed.
Check your notes at the end of each session for clarity. Resist making a job offer on the spot as this is legally binding. Make sure that every candidate leaves with a good impression of your business.
