Behavioral interviewing is very useful because it can give you more context and detail about each candidate. And the more specifics you can learn about real-life experiences of the candidates, the more accurately you can determine whether they would be a perfect fit for the organization.
A behavioral interviewing method, STAR, allows you to conduct more insightful interviews and acts as an effective quality control measure to match the right people to the right jobs.
STAR stands for “situation, task, action, and results.” Essentially, it requires a candidate to
✔️ explain a specific, real-world work SITUATION,
✔️ provide details regarding the TASKS required,
✔️ what ACTIONS the candidate took to achieve those tasks,
✔️ and the RESULTS of the situation.
When used properly, the STAR method is extremely effective.
